Get Dirty, Eat Happy
Embarking on this culinary journey through Catalonia feels like a passport to a world of gastronomic wonders. The three-course menu is a symphony of flavors, each dish carefully curated to transport diners to the heart of this vibrant region.
CALÇOTS
First up, a generous portion of calçots sets the stage. The earthy aroma and smoky char of these grilled spring onions, dipped generously in romesco sauce, evoke the lively spirit of traditional Catalan gatherings. It's a culinary embrace, a taste of Catalonia's communal celebration, right on your plate.
SECOND COURSES
Moving on to the second course, the dilemma lies in choosing between two delectable options. On one hand, there's the succulent meat, cooked to perfection with a tantalizing crust that captures the essence of Catalan grilling mastery. On the other, a nod to tradition with the vegan rendition of Catalan fabas, a hearty dish that pays homage to the diverse culinary landscape of the region. Each bite is a choice between two worlds, both equally enchanting.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
As the grand finale approaches, the menu culminates with a touch of familial warmth. The crema catalana, crafted from the cherished recipe of Grany Carmen, the founder's beloved grandmother, takes center stage. This dessert is more than a sweet conclusion; it's a legacy on a plate. The rich custard, delicately caramelized, whispers the secrets of generations past, encapsulating the essence of Catalan home-cooking.
MOUTH TRIP TO CATALONIA
In this three-course odyssey, each dish is a culinary postcard from Catalonia, a journey of the senses that captures the spirit and tradition of this enchanting region.
And as the final curtain falls on this Catalan culinary adventure, the experience transcends beyond the mere delight of flavors. It's about the joy of sharing these exceptional dishes with the people you hold dear, transforming a meal into a celebration of camaraderie and connection.
In the midst of laughter and lively conversation, the Porron emerges, adding a playful touch to the gathering. A great red wine flows effortlessly from this traditional Catalan wine pitcher, creating a communal experience that amplifies the convivial atmosphere. The act of sharing, sipping, and passing the Porron becomes a cherished tradition, weaving an extra layer of fun and warmth into the tapestry of the evening.
THE ONION GUY
Julià Delos served as a scientist at Philips during the 2010s. During this time, he organized a Calçotada and realized that good food and culture truly move the world. This epiphany led him to found La Calçotada with the aim of delivering the best Calçotada experience to the people of Eindhoven and later, the world. Since then, La Calçotada has been producing top-quality food experiences and products that can be enjoyed at home or in restaurants.
